Coordinating Conjunctions
These conjunctions combine independent clauses, words, or phrases that are equally important in a sentence. Coordinating conjunctions that are most frequently used include:
And: Adds one thing to another.
Example: I have a dog and a cat.
But: Shows contrast or exception.
Example: I like ice cream, but I don’t like cake.
Or: Presents an alternative or choice.
Example: Do you want an apple or a banana?
